I work as an artist and tutor in the village of Melbourne where I am lucky to be surrounded by the beautiful landscape of Derbyshire. I studied art at Derby University and continue to experiment and be inspired by new technologies which I like to incorporate into my work. As a teacher I am keen to constantly update my own skills which promotes new ideas for me to pass on to my students. I have been painting in acrylics for many years but like combining other media as the work progresses in order to maintain some spontaneity. Many of the pieces become a fusion of paint, oil pastel ink or collage during the process. I enjoy painting landscapes where the emphasis is placed on certain atmospheric conditions such as mist, fog or sunlight and shadows. My workshops and classes are designed to offer a friendly relaxed atmosphere which often generates ideas within the group allowing me as a teacher and an artist to provide encouragement and enthusiasm which are the keys to learning. I am a professional associate of the SAA, an associate member of Banksmill Studios, A friend of the RBSA, A member of the Ashby Guild of artists and a member of the Derby Sketching club.
